Summer Time

It has been a while since my last post. Nearly over 5 months to be exact. Since my last post, a lot happen indeed happened but I just haven’t had time to write anything. I am working on a few things right now. Once I have something more fleshed out, I will post more. But for now, I just wanted to post up some new photos I have taken during my most recent road trip to Mount Fuji. I am on summer vacation at the moment and trying to do mini road trips when and where ever I can. This […]

Bali Temple Mystery – To sarong or not to Sarong?

Do I need to wear a sarong? This is a question that all tourists will ask over and over again when going to a temple in Bali.  People get confused and wonder what other dress codes and rules there are specific for females and males. I wanted to share my thoughts and experience in this regards from a recent trip to Bali. For starters, I will say that the dress code rules vary base on the temple being visited. I dare say there are somewhat-strict and strict-strict temples in Bali which result to this differences in dress code for guests. To help […]

My Authentic Getaway to South Asia

Close your eyes and imagine hills of verdurous rice paddies, clear blue beaches and colourful vibrate coral reefs waiting to be explored by you.  Now imagine sweating it out at a meditating yoga class and feeling fully refreshed afterwards.  To help loosen up the tension in the muscles, a luxuriate massage session is waiting for you by the resort pool.  Sounds amazing? Bali is a small yet an exotic island that encapsulates all these things.  Its exoticness is exactly the reason why so many people travel there – for the so-called authentic relax paced holiday in South Asia. Cocktails and […]

Photo Update: Okinawa shots are up!

It took me a while to get to it but I finally managed to go through my backlog of photos taken in Okinawa during my October trip.  I have yet to write a full story about it, but I think the photos speak for themselves.  Okinawa is a stunning place and dare say that anyone who goes there would have a magical time. Anyways, you can enjoy looking at my photos here: http://the-little-me.com/photos/okinawa/

Away in Taipei

My travel experience has taught me that a trip without hiccups or mistakes isn’t a good trip.   It is easily forgotten if not hard to remember.  A trip that went all well and good is harder to remember the full details.  It’s like nightmares where you remember mainly the bad ones and the good ones leave a good feeling only.  Well, my last summer trip to Taipei was nothing short of hiccups and mistakes for a life to remember. Towards the end of August, I still had a handful of days left for school summer vacation.  I did not want […]

Breathtaking Hokkaido

For years, Hokkaido has been on my travel list.  I’ve wanted to put a tick next to this place on my list for yonks.  Years of listening to other people’s stories about how great the place was, and having amazing pictures on various locations in Hokkaido presented to me when I least expected it; I was done being the sitting duck. I needed to take matters in my own hands.  One night, while sitting on the floor in my apartment, I took out my work calendar. I looked at the upcoming two months very carefully. I was looking for something… […]

London Escape

During the end of August to early September, schools in Japan go on summer vacation. My workplace, a Japanese high school, was no exception (although, most students and teachers continue to linger around school for extra classes and extra curriculum activities – aka school club activities). Luckily for me, my job role did not bind me to any work commitments of the sort.  Not sure whether it was the travel bug or the stress built up from work, but I had to go for another holiday to unwind. Together with my friend, A, we booked flights and headed on our […]

Onsen Away

Around the end of April “slash” beginning of May, it was Golden Week in Japan. Golden Week is one of the best holidays in Japan because people get a consecutive three day holiday during the middle of the week. Now this doesn’t sound like much, but trust me when I say it sure does mean a lot to the Japanese working society. Fortunately for me I didn’t have any commitments at school during that week, so I was able to fully enjoy the time off work. I do know some people, however, depending on where they work who did have to work even over the holidays… which […]

A break before the rush

Before work began getting hectic for the new school year, I headed off on a trip to Hong Kong and Korea.  It was a 10-day trip with my friend, A. The purpose of the trip was to relax and get away from work.  There was also another goal we had for the trip: and that was to eat! Hong Kong Our first stop was Hong Kong.  Hong Kong is a place I had always considered as my second home. My dad moved from Hong Kong to Australia in 1982.  My first trip to Hong Kong was when I was four. […]
